Concept of Memory trees becomes  a reality on the hills of "Pitra-Parvat"
Indore is the commercial and cultural capital of the state of Madhya Pradesh (India), which is area wise second largest state of INDIA. The city council of Indore started a campaign of Planting trees in memory of deceased near and dear ones. For this purpose the city council selected a hillock on the outskirts of Indore city known as Dev Dharam Hill ,the Municipal authorities and the citizens have subsequently renamed it Pitra Parvat .Now after planting trees in memory of departed souls are hill has got a new name "Pitra Parvat". The word word "Pitra" comes from ancient Sanskrit language and refers to departed souls. The hillock is covered with 17000 memory trees, which were planted in between the year 2000-2005 . In this way the concept of tree planting in memory of near and dear ones was transformed  from dream to reality by the initiative of Dr. Trivedi and dedicated efforts by the then Mayor of Indore Mr. Kailash Vijayvargiya, who has rightly earned the title "The Green Mayor".

Dr. Rakesh Trivedi feels that generally humanity has benefited from trees in numerous ways like oxygen for breathing, absorption of carbon dioxide from atmosphere, fruits, flowers, medicines, checking soil erosion, providing shelter to birds, fuel, wood and timber, fodder for animals and attracting rains. He has evolved the dynamic concept of memory plantation in order to repay the debt man owes to Mother Nature
